Thank you so much to everyone who helped to make our Summer Book Fair the best ever!

We sold an incredible 3100€!

This would not have been possible without the generosity of parents and students.  This means our Elementary Library will have earned 900€ worth of Usborne Books.  You will see these books appear in our catalogue in September.

A big thank you also to the parent volunteers who did an outstanding job of helping parents and students find just the right book.  It is a wonderful achievement and my gratitude goes out to all those who made it possible.

If you or your child reserved a book, I still have them available in the library.  Come and get them, if you still want them.  If not, don’t worry!

Your help and support is very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Miss Emma

Reading can be one of the many fun activities with which children fill their summer time. Research has shown it is also much more! Children who participate in summer reading not only avoid the “summer slide” in learning, but also come back to school in September with a greater success in their reading.

The Elementary School Library’s 2017 Recommended Summer Reading Lists

have been published and are available at the links below.  These curated lists provide a varied selection of high quality literature for elementary students from Kindergarten to Grade 5.  There is also the Middle School Recommended Summer Reading List available for Grade 5 students entering Middle School in the upcoming school year.

Do you ever feel like you want to escape into another world, slipping through an enchanted wardrobe and experiencing the breathtaking adventure beyond?  Fantasy books bring the imagination to life and allow the impossible to occur. The sheer joy of escaping reality and letting go of expectations makes this genre incredibly popular for all ages.   Fantasy is a fiction genre set in an imaginary universe, often but not always without any locations, events, or people from the real world.  Most fantasy uses magic or other supernatural elements as a main plot element, theme, or setting.   Magic and magical creatures are common in many of these imaginary worlds.

Here is the link to my ES Fantasy Book Club Presentation.

Cristina & Clara playing Mancala

Our Lunchtime Puzzle Club in the Elementary Library has been a great success this year.  We have had students from Grade 2 – 5 playing Chess, Mancala, Top Trumps and even exchanging strategies for solving Rubix Cubes!  Thank you to all the students who have made the ES Library a regular place to be at lunch time.  You all have made it a success.  Thank you also to all the Middle School students who have given up their Lunchtimes to play and teach the Elementary students.

Puzzle Club is open every day in the library for Grade 2 & 3 from 1:00pm – 1:20pm.

Puzzle Club is open every Monday, Tuesday & Friday for Grade 4 & 5 students from 1:45pm – 2:10pm.

We are always on the look out for puzzle games and Rubix Cubes that you would like to donate.
