24 is the Magic Number!!!

Written by Makiko M. Posted in 4th Grade, 5th Grade, ES Counselor

Every Tuesday during afternoon patio, our fourth and fifth grade students participate in the “24 Tournament”.  Participation in the tournament is voluntary, however, we had 20 students participate this week!!!  Our students worked in teams of 3 or 4 to solve as many problems as they could during the allotted patio time. The objective of the game is to make the number 24 from the four numbers on a game card.  Students can add, subtract, multiply and divide.  They can use all four numbers on the card, but use each number only once.

Our first round of the “24 Tournament” was a great success!!

Now…. can you solve this one?

Answer:

4 x 3 = 12

2 x 1 = 2

2 x 12 = 24

How did you do?
