Dear BFIS Third Graders and Families,

We have been practicing hard to prepare for the Winter Concert.  Students in Third have focused on the Winter Tradition of Hanukkah for their performance.  In addition to learning about some of the traditions of the holiday, students have also learned traditional Hora dances, the Mayim and Hora Chadera!

In addition, we have been learning and experiencing meter in music, or how music is organised into groups of beats. We have learned to conduct in both 4/4 and 3/4 time.

Here is the conducting pattern for music in 4/4!

Heather Gilles

Hello Parents and Students! This is Ms. G. I´m happy to be blogging about music in our school. I grew up in the United States, and recently moved to Barcelona from New York City. A little bit more about my professional background, I received my Bachelor´s in Music Performance from the Juilliard School, where I studied opera. I sang and worked as an Assistant Director with Opera Companies for many years before teaching music full time. This is my eighth year of teaching full time, and almost my fifteenth year of teaching private voice and piano lessons!
