Català 4t, Escriure i escriure!

escriure A la classe de Català de 4t hem estat treballant en diferents gèneres d`’escriptura durant aquest primer trimestre. Al començament ens vam centrar en els diferents detalls que s’han d’incloure per confeccionar l’etiqueta d’un producte i cada nen va dissenyar la seva.

Canviant completament d’estil, vam fixar-nos en les característiques dels diaris personals i de l’autobiografia, com a narració de la vida d’una persona escrita per ella mateixa i fent servir la primera persona del singular de diferents personatges. Partint d’això, vam passar a llegir exemples de biografies com ara fragments de la de Jane Godall, Chopin o Salvador Dalí. Com a tasca final, cada nen va pensar en una sèrie de preguntes per fer a un membre de la seva família i després a classe en va escriure la biografia.

Durant aquests dies hem estat repassant el que sabem sobre els adjectius i la seva funció ja que els haurem de fer servir per treballar en el nou tipus de text en el que ens centrarem durant les properes setmanes: la descripció com a explicació detallada d’un objecte, lloc, persona o animal.

Friendship and Fostering Our Community Values

Today, students from the 8th grade Wellness class came to teach our elementary students about friendship and bullying. The students created their own projects and presentations and did a fantastic job of reinforcing some of the main ideas and important concepts that we have been working with this year. Thank you to Ms. Kleijn and to all of the students who participated!

We are Journalists!

Our fourth and fifth graders are ready to continue developing their Spanish skills while having fun and immersing in a very rich culture.

We started the new school year by introducing each other, reviewing some vocabulary related with personal adjectives. By the time we finished our first unit, our students were able not only to speak about their daily activities and hobbies, but also to interview their friends about their likes and dislikes and to report that information, speaking about a third person. In order to speak about their daily agendas and hobbies, our students were using the present continuous tense in context and applying different pronouns.

On the other hand, we have been working on weather conditions and natural disasters, reading and listening to different documentaries and reports. In order to practice this academic vocabulary  in context, each student has prepared a script for a news program. They have chosen a natural disaster and a country of their interest and then recorded some videos pretending they were journalists broadcasting.  It has been very enriching to listen to their oral presentations about Japan, United States or Africa, among others. They have learned about important natural disasters that happened, for instance, in Haiti recently. Do not hesitate to contact me in case you would like to have a look at their amazing videos!

Castellano 3º. Texto Instructivo

En tercero hemos disfrutado muchísimo escribiendo recetas de cocina.  Hemos aprendido las partes  del  texto instructivo y también el formato correcto para que las recetas se puedan  elaborar con facilidad. Cada uno hemos escrito la receta que más nos gustaba o que mejor sabíamos hacer.  Esta semana  juntaremos todas las recetas y  las publicaremos en una sola copia de clase.  El niño que lo desee podrá llevárselo a su casa y fotocopiarlo o leerla.

Castellano 1º

En Primero estamos escribiendo y leyendo diariamente.  Estas semanas leemos  y escribimos   palabras con el fonema /r/ en las diferentes posiciones de la palabra. También diferenciamos  la /r/ fuerte de la suave.  Nuestro cuento será  sobre  el día de Acción de Gracias y escribiremos cinco cosas por las que estamos agradecidos. Cada lunes  escribimos sobre nuestro fin de semana utilizando mayúscula y punto. Cuando tenemos un poco de tiempo extra porque hemos acabado nuestro trabajo  hacemos sopas de letras en  nuestro libro, nos encanta buscar la palabra con nuestro compañero de mesa.

Indoor Gross Motor: Yoga and Dance

During our morning gross motor period, we are actively engaging our bodies through yoga and dance. Yoga and dance both enhance flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. Both help improve concentration, instill a sense of calm, and create a deeper connection to one’s inner-self and the world around them. We also are practicing other deep breathing techniques to help with self regulation in order to them to be mindful of how they are feeling.  It is even scientifically proven to enhance and increase neural connections in the areas of the brain responsible for memory and learning. Look at how much fun we are having!
