Dear Parents

Welcome to 2016-2017 Academic Year!

It is my pleasure to teach your child Physical Education this year.  I thought it would be beneficial to let you know some information about me and my policies in this class.

This is my 10th year at The Benjamin Franklin International School. I teach PE in Early Childhood and I also teach PE in Elementary along with Mr. John. I am originally from Barcelona where I got my Graduate Degree in Physical Education (I.N.E.F.) from the University of Barcelona. I studied and worked in the United States for three and a half years, where I got my Master’s Degree in Business. I enjoy all kind of sports; some of my favorites are tennis, which I practice regularly, surfing, skiing, rhythmic gymnastics, rollerblading and swimming. I also love salsa dancing.

Our goal in physical education is for everyone to learn to make healthy choices and feel successful when participating in a variety of activities.  This enables students to develop a positive attitude toward physical activity and to develop healthy habits, which will hopefully continue throughout their lives.Students will be encouraged to have fun and enjoy PE.  They will also be encouraged to participate to the best of their ability in a wide variety of activities.  At the elementary level, certain skills are taught so that students will be able to pursue competitive sports as well as lifetime sports.

I look forward to a wonderful year with all of you!

Please take note on the following  for this academic year:

– Proper shoes (trainers/running shoes) are required for all lessons.

– Proper sports clothes are required for all lessons.

– Water bottles, sun block , and hats are highly recommended since most lessons are outdoors.

Please, let me know via e-mail or with a note if your child is injured, sick, or has any kind of disability that prevents him from doing P.E. so that we can make the necessary adjustments. Your help and cooperation is vital to the success of our physical education program. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch with me at school by  e-mail at  elenap@bfischool.org

I anticipate a great school year in Physical Education with your child!

Sincerely,

Elena Pons –  Physical Education Specialist
