February’s Social & Emotional Learning (S.E.L.) theme in the elementary school is Celebrating Cultural and Linguistic Identity. This is an opportunity for us to embrace our community’s diverse cultures and languages. Each year, we recognize this UNESCO event with a very special project.
To promote awareness and recognition of the diversity of languages in our community, this year we invited elementary school students to write a bilingual metaphor or simile describing what Peace means to them. Students wrote metaphors or similes in both English and their first language. Four students per grade were selected to share their project at our ES assembly this morning. All of the submitted entries will be published in the ES Library.
In addition, we created a multilingual video that we shared at the assembly.
