La leyenda de Sant Jordi

Written by Núria Araguas. Posted in Castellano, ES CSCS

Nursery Field Trip to the Theater Cancelled!

Written by AngieB. Posted in Nursery

The field trip to the Sant Jordi puppet show in Puntual Theater tomorrow has been cancelled!
We just got a phone call that the puppeteer is sick in hospital and will be unable to make the show.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Tomorrow will be a regular school day. Thank you!

Dear Parents,

Let’s look at

How do I add up three or four 2-digit numbers?

In Second Grade we are now efficiently using addition and subtraction within 100 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing by using drawings and equations.  The next step is to add three or four 2-digit numbers using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.

Our learning targets is:

  • I can add up to four two-digit numbers by applying strategies (e.g., decomposing numbers, rearranging the order of the numbers, making tens or multiples of tens based on the numbers being added.

Review the LearnZillion videos we watched in classand use these strategies in this week’s homelink:

Remember to use a different strategy on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (strategies can be see at above websites).  Use the THIRD strategy (above) for Thursday’s problem, which adds up to more than 100.

(If you have a Gmail account, open it up before going to LearnZillion, and you don’t have to sign up for it.  If you do have to sign up for LearnZillion, it is always FREE!)

Kindergarten and 1st Grade Overnight Trip

Written by Caroline Rockett. Posted in 1st Grade, Kindergarten

Information Session for parents

IMG_5669Even though it is nearly two months away, we have already started the process of preparing for the Kinder & 1st grade overnight trip that will take place from June 3rd – 4th.  In the coming days, we will send further information about the experience along with permission slips for families who would like their child to participate.

In addition to the information being sent home, Ms. Lefton and Mr. Duval will  host a simple information session on Monday May  5th.  The purpose of the gathering will be to give an overview of the trip and also be present and available to answer questions face to face. If you are interested in attending the gathering, it will take place in the Main Building Reception from 8:45am until approximately 9:30 am.

We hope to have a high level of participation throughout the community as in previous years. The overnight trip is a distinct highlight for children and faculty and we look forward to another amazing adventure this year

Written by ValerieW. Posted in 2nd Grade

Monday:    Dear Parents,

This week we’re thinking about

We have identified the coins and bills that make up EUROS.  We have thought about different ways to make a total amount and we’ve looked at everyday problems to help us to understand how money is used.

Our learning targets are:

  • I can identify and give the value of euro  bills and coins
  • I can use € (euro) and c (cents) symbol appropriately.
  • I can solve a word problem with euros and cents

Don’t forget to ask:

How do you know you’re right?
